[ARCHIVED] Noccalula Falls Park Reopens for 2018 Season

Noccalula Falls Park Reopens for 2018 Season

Gadsden, AL-  Noccalula Falls is reopening Thursday, March 1st for the 2018 season.  Looking ahead, the 2018 season will be an excellent year for Gadsden’s largest and most visited park. There are significant improvements underway for park facilities, so pardon our progress this year as you visit Noccalula Falls Park and Campground as we continue to upgrade the grounds for our patrons.

The 2018 calendar for Noccalula Falls Parks and Campground is loaded with events. Each month you can find a unique and fun event to suit your interests.  The Spring season kicks off with the ‘Smoke on the Falls Barbecue Festival’ and ‘Black Creek Archery Tournament’ in April.  May will be our ‘Month of Mini-Golf’ and a focus on ‘Go Camping.’  June doesn’t slow down; in fact, it speeds up with both the ‘Wheels on the Hill’ car show and the ‘Barbarian Challenge’ obstacle course race.  July is expected to mark the reopening of the fully renovated Kiwanis Pavilion. ‘The World’s Longest Yard Sale’ will take place in August and will start in Gadsden and continue north from Noccalula Falls. The Green Beret Challenge, also happening in August for the first time in Gadsden, will take place at the Black Creek Trails. In September, we host the ‘Turtle Island Pow Wow.’ The ‘G-Tractor Show’ and ‘Halloween Super Bash’ fill the October calendar. As always, the spectacular ‘Christmas at the Falls’ will begin in November and conclude before New Year’s Eve in December.  For a complete calendar of special events visit our website at NoccalulaFallsPark.com

Season passes are $15 per adult or $10 per senior/military/child (age 4-12) regardless of where you live. Each individual will receive a personalized pass. One day passes for adults remain $6, child admission (age 4-12) will be $4, and 3 and younger remain free.  We also offer a discount combo pass for park admission and mini golf, adults $8; seniors/military/children (age 4-12) $6. Contact the park office for group rates.

While visiting the park, you may notice some construction projects. We’re renovating more buildings in the Pioneer Village, so please be mindful of construction closures. The main entrance and Mini Golf are getting a fresh coat of stain as well as more of the split rail fence. We’ve also been listening to your comments and suggestions and are gradually making improvements to meet the needs. We’re adding more signage, wayfinding signs, and new maps to the Black Creek Trails. The old Creative building in the park that was formerly used to prepare the Christmas decorations is being transformed to the ‘The Workshop’ where we will hold educational classes throughout the year. You may also recognize this as the ‘Cookie Workshop’ at Christmas at the Falls. There is a boardwalk being added between the General Store and the falls overlook  to provide a safer pedestrian walking path separate from the train tracks. A suspension bridge is also being built in the gorge to provide a way across Black Creek so that the gorge trail can be a full loop. New signage will also be added to the gorge trail.
