The Gadsden-Etowah County Emergency Management and the Etowah County VOAD are leading a community wide effort to help victims of Hurricane Harvey. The local effort is focused on providing supplies to the City of Rosenberg, Texas in Fort Bend County. The area has received incredible damage from the recent storms with more than five thousand people rescued and two killed.
The effort in our community, Relief for Rosenberg, will start soon and will be focused on providing the appropriate, requested supplies at the appropriate time to help relief workers help the people in Rosenberg rebuild their homes, schools and community. The first phase of Relief for Rosenberg will be to gather cleaning supplies for “mud-out” kits, and a list of supplies and a drop-off location will be announced next week.
Monetary donations for immediate needs can be directed through the American Red Cross or The Salvation Army, who are both on location providing emergency food, housing, and other immediate needs.
