The Etowah County VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) in conjunction with the Gadsden/Etowah County Emergency Management Agency, will host a planning meeting Friday, September 1st. VOAD consists of representatives from various local governments, municipalities, and social service organizations that provide resources in times of need. In response to the devastation on the Gulf Coast of Texas, local agencies will be coordinating a relief effort for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Those attending will discuss the creation of a donation center. This will also be used as an opportunity to prepare and train locally for if, and when, a disaster affects our community. The meeting will take place in the Lena Martin Room of the Gadsden Public Library, at 9:00 a.m.
