[ARCHIVED] Imagination Place to Host “Kidstown Alive” on August 12

Imagination Place Children’s Museum inside the Hardin Center will come alive Saturday, August 12 for the third annual “Kidstown Alive” event from 10 am to noon.

Imagination Place always features a child-sized town complete with businesses and areas where children can imagine themselves in adult roles. During this special day, they are able to meet real-life counterparts who do those jobs in our community each and every day. For example, children can talk to a banker in the bank, meet a grocer in the grocery store, and visit with medical personnel in the medical clinic. Police officers, fire fighters, construction workers, civic leaders, and more will be on hand to meet children and talk to them about their careers.

Imagination Place staff will be doing face painting, leading games, and giving away prizes. Children will have the opportunity to take photos with the adult professionals and learn more about what they want to be when they grow up. “Imagination Place is always an exciting place for children, but we’re excited about it being even more interactive and fun during Kidstown Alive. Last year was terrific fun and this year will be even better,” said Holly Guinn from Imagination Place. “We have many people from the community who are volunteering their time to meet with our visitors and we hope this event will spark even more imagination in the minds of the children.”

The Kidstown Alive event is free with regular paid admission to the Hardin Center. Admission is $8 per person, free for children under 2, and free for Hardin Center members. Visit culturalarts.org or call (256) 543-2787 for more information.
