The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Heat Advisory for Etowah County which is in effect until 11 a.m. CDT Friday until 9 p.m. Saturday. Maximum heat indices will be between 105 to 109 degrees.

Please drink plenty of water to replace minerals in your body. Limit sun exposure during mid-day hours. Avoid hot foods and heavy meals, which add heat to your body. Wear light, loose clothing and wear sun screen. Shade children with a hat or umbrella. Please check on the elderly and make sure your pets have plenty of FRESH water and adequate shade.
