Ride fares resuming for transit services; Token Transit app added

Gadsden Transportation Services has announced the resumption of transit fares on October 3, 2022, as well as a new, smartphone-based option for purchasing fare passes.

GTS would like to inform all passengers that beginning on Monday, October 3, we will resume charging fixed route (trolley) bus fare and paratransit (DART) bus fare.

Fares were previously suspended due to the COVID-19 shutdown and limited services.

  • The standard trolley bus fare rate will be $1.00 (one-way) each time a rider boards the bus.
  • The standard DART bus fare rate will be $2.00 (one-way) each time a rider boards the bus.

GTS will honor all DART bus passes that were purchased prior to the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.

These passes will be honored by the bus driver through the months of October and November.

After Nov. 3, 2022, the old-style bus pass will no longer be accepted.

GTS will continue to honor trolley tokens. The exchange rate for tokens will be $0.25 each, and it will take four (4) tokens to board the bus.

GTS has partnered with Token Transit to offer a touchless fare pass. Riders can download the Token Transit app on their smartphone to conveniently pay for fares and board a bus.

This contactless fare product can be found in the App Store for iPhone and Google Play for Android devices.
