City elections are managed by the city clerk. On August 23, 2022, an election was held for the offices of mayor and seven council members, as well as seven school board members. A runoff election will be held on September 20, 2022. The next administration will begin on November 7, 2022.
Absentee voting is currently underway. Please contact the city clerk for information regarding absentee voting by calling 256-549-4517 or coming to Room 401 of Gadsden City Hall, 90 Broad Street. You may click on this link for an Application for Absentee Ballot. Applications returned by mail must be received by September 13, 2022. The deadline to apply in person for a regular absentee ballot for the runoff election is September 15, 2022.
City of Gadsden elections are non-partisan, and no write-in votes are permitted.
Voter Records: Make sure that your name and address are correct on the official voting list–there is no automatic system for updating. If you have moved or married since the time you registered to vote and you haven’t completed a voter update form, your information is probably not current. It is also possible that you may be on the inactive list. If you wish to verify your voter record, please feel free to contact the Etowah County Board of Registrars office at 256-549-5384.
