Services & Responsibilities
The Design Review district is composed of land and structures situated in areas with existing or potentially high scenic value. The district design standards and guidelines are created to advance the economic development of the district, yet preserve and enhance its historical, cultural, and architectural integrity in accordance with the improvement plan for the district.
All buildings or structures within a design review district that may be erected, demolished, or altered with a material change in appearance must complete an application for a certificate of appropriateness and submitted to the planning department for approval.
The Gadsden Design Review Board considers appeals from decisions by the Planning Department not to issue a certificate of appropriateness for all designated design review districts.
