Mayors Sherman Guyton and Terry John Calhoun, representing the Cities of Gadsden & Rainbow City, respectively, hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Black Creek Parkway Extension Project, which is scheduled to open the week of August 1^st. The new four lane road will directly connect the Black Creek Exit of I-759 (Near Gadsden City High School) to Steele Station Road. This project has taken over 15 years to complete and has become a reality because of the cooperation of the Gadsden-Etowah Metropolitan Planning Organization, including all the municipalities of Etowah County and the assistance of the Etowah County Legislative Delegation.  The Extension opens the door for further industrial development along Highway 77 and at the airport, which will benefit both Gadsden & Rainbow City, as well as Etowah County as a whole.
