Mayor Sherman Guyton, along with Save Our Neighborhoods and the Etowah County Sheriff's Department, urges all Gadsden churches, neighborhood groups and schools to participate to help keep the city beautiful.
Participating groups are to meet at 7:30am Saturday at City Hall. Each group will receive a free T-shirt while supplies last and trash bags for the event. Groups may clean their own neighborhoods or will be assigned a location to clean when they arrive at City Hall.
Clean up day caps off a week long effort from Gadsden elementary students to collect trash in their neighborhoods and on their school grounds. The elementary school which collects the greatest number of trash bags from its students will be rewarded with a pizza party given by the Mayor.
Trash drop-off locations for the clean up day include: Oscar Adams Elementary, Raymond Hill Community Center, C.A. Donehoo Elementary, George Floyd Elementary, R.A. Mitchell Elementary, Stiplin Elementary, Ray Thompson Elementary, Walnut Park Elementary, Carver Community Center, East Gadsden Community Center, Elliot Community Center.
The Clean Up day will be from 8-2 p.m.
For more information or if your group would like to participate in Gadsden Clean Up Day, please call the Save Our Neighborhoods Coordinator at (256)549-4794.
