Court is held on Friday beginning at 8:30 a.m.

If you need additional time to pay your fine, you must appear in court and the judge will determine if an extension is granted.

No. You must appear in person to enter a guilty plea and sign a Waiver of Rights Form.

You must appear in court before a judge to protest your ticket.

Can I change my court date? |

Court dates are changed only in the event of a verifiable emergency. Inability to pay fines is not considered an emergency. Once you have appeared before a judge, only the judge can change your court date.

What will happen if I do not show up for my court date? |

A warrant will be issued for your arrest and, in some cases; your drivers license will be suspended.

Can I talk to the judge or prosecutor? |

The judge will only talk to you about a court matter in court. The prosecutor's office can be contacted at (256) 772-5561.

What do I do if I have an outstanding warrant against me? |
| A. |
You must turn yourself in to the Gadsden Police Department. You will be able to post bond (except in Violation of Probation cases) as soon as the Police Department concludes the booking process. Bond may be posted in cash or through a Professional Bonding Company.

How do I obtain a warrant? |

After you have filed a police report, contact the Court Clerk's Office to make an appointment. After conducting a hearing, a Magistrate will determine if there is probable cause to issue an arrest warrant. Filing a police report does not insure that a warrant will be issued.

Once a warrant has been issued, all parties involved must appear in court.
