The goal of the City Clerk's office is to accurately record all official actions of the governing body, provide a check and balance system for all financial functions, protect and maintain city records and archives, efficiently conduct impartial municipal elections, and provide services to the citizens, elected officials, city departments and outside organizations in a professional manner.

Contact the City Clerk's Office to:
- Present claims and other legal actions involving the City
- Obtain copy of City ordinances
- Present request for purchase of city-owned property
- Request to speak at Council meeting
- Contact a City Council member or arrange for an appointment
Contact the City Clerk's office for information regarding:
- City Council districts and Council members
- Leases & contracts with City
- City auctions, disposal of surplus property, etc.
- History of Gadsden, form of government, etc.
ELECTIONS AND VOTERS LIST
City elections are managed by the City Clerk. The terms of our current elected officials will end on November 3, 2014. The next regular election will be held on August 26, 2014, for the purpose of electing a mayor and seven council members. If a runoff election is necessary, it will be held on October 7, 2014.
There is no automatic system to update voter information, so voters are encouraged to make sure that their address is current on the official voters list, which is maintained by the board of registrars. If you wish to check your voting record, call 256-549-5384. If your name or address has changed since you registered to vote, click on the link below and print the voter update form. Mail completed forms to the Etowah County Board of Registrars, 800 Forrest Avenue, Gadsden, AL 35901.
