The City of Gadsden is accepting public comments on its proposed use of HUD CDBG-CV (CARES Act) funds in the amount of $201,249. The City proposes to award $30,000 each to Metropolitan Area Noon Nutrition Association (MANNA), Way of the Cross Ministries, The Salvation Army, The Love Center Homeless Shelter, and St. Martin de Porres Catholic Center of Concern, The City proposes to provide $51,249 to United Way of Etowah County who will serve as a clearinghouse for future funding applications. Any 501C3 agency will be eligible to apply for these funds through United Way, and funding decisions will be at the discretion of the City of Gadsden to ensure program criteria are met. All funds must be used to prevent, prepare for, or respond to COVID-19.
