The City of Gadsden’s mask order for city facilities will expire at 4:30 p.m. today, Mayor Sherman Guyton announced on Friday, April 30, 2021.
The policy, which was put in place after the expiration of Alabama’s state mask mandate earlier this month, only affected city facilities.
Private businesses will still be able to institute their own rules, and visitors to city facilities are encouraged to continue taking precautions against COVID-19.
“We will continue to monitor the situation, and I strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated and take other steps to prevent another surge of COVID-19 cases,” said Mayor Sherman Guyton.
Masks will still be required for City of Gadsden transportation services, such as the trolley service and DART.
The mask policy for transportation services will continue to follow federal mandates required by the Federal Transit Administration.
