Gadsden, Alabama - Locust Street from 5th Street to 6th Street will be closed, starting Friday morning, for crucial railroad repairs. The City of Gadsden Engineering Department is authorizing the road closure. OmniTrax, Inc. will be working on the railway panels that run down Locust Street to address and repair existing issues from the rubber panels and railway structure on this short segment of the Alabama-Tennessee River Railway.
The 500 Block of Locust Street will be closed at 7 a.m. Friday April 8 and is expected to reopen by 4 p.m. Monday April 10. Drivers should avoid the area. No detour will be posted, and traffic on 5th and 6th Streets will not be blocked.
