[ARCHIVED] EAST ALABAMAWORKS TO PRESENT ANNUAL WORLDS OF WORK CAREER EXPO

The East AlabamaWorks Regional Workforce Council invites your coverage of the annual WORLDS OF WORK Career Expo. This year’s event is set for Tuesday, March 12, Wednesday, March 13 and Thursday, March 14 at the Oxford Civic Center in Oxford, Alabama.

WORLDS OF WORK is an annual, hands-on career exploration event that will host almost eight-thousand eighth graders and high school juniors from schools located throughout the seven-county East AlabamaWorks region. Nearly one hundred local businesses and industries will be on hand to give students a unique, hands-on experience in a variety of interesting, high-wage careers.

While the majority of WORLDS OF WORK is closed to the public (due to the safety aspects of having so many students at the event), this huge event still makes a great news story for your station or publication! We hope to see you at our event! If you are planning coverage of WORLDS OF WORK, please contact Carl Brady and let us know you are coming. Carl will also be your on-site media contact. Please contact him when you arrive on site for the event. The schedule for each day is listed below.

WOW CONNECTEDWhile WORLDS OF WORK is closed to the public while students are on-site, we are pleased to introduce a new part of WORLDS OF WORK that is open to the public – WOW CONNECTED! In an effort to reach out to more parents and educators, a special session of WORLDS OF WORK will be open to everyone on Wednesday, March 13 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. All of our business and industry career presenters will be on hand that afternoon so that parents and educators can experience WORLDS OF WORK just as their kids have done. The hope is that parents will also enjoy the experience, and encourage their child to pursue a future in a high-wage, high-demand career field like the ones presented at WORLDS OF WORK.

When you are presenting your coverage of WORLDS OF WORK, we ask that you also help us promote WOW Connected as part of that coverage!
