[ARCHIVED] Craig Scott promoted to lead Gadsden Public Library

CraigScott - 1

Gadsden, AL- The City of Gadsden’s Public Library has a new director, Craig Scott, and while he has a long history at the library, he has a host of ideas to continue the success of one of Gadsden’s brightest spots.  Scott started as the Adult Services Librarian; then was promoted to Library Administrator, where he managed a variety of functions at the GPL.  In his new role as the Director, he will oversee all branches, staff, and programs of the Gadsden Public Library.

Scott was initially hired at the  Gadsden Public Library in 2007 and has been an active participant in the community along with state, and national professional associations, holding a variety of leadership positions in each. Scott’s involvement in the Alabama Library Association (ALLA) was a crucial part of bringing the state conference to Gadsden in 2016.  He volunteers with MANNA, RSVP, the Etowah County Bicentennial Committee, United Way, Etowah County VOAD, and many others.

“We’re so pleased to be able to promote Craig. We love to recognize employees who have done a great job and to promote them. We’re excited that Craig has taken the helm at the Gadsden Public Library and we’re confident that he’ll do a great job, “ said Mayor Sherman Guyton.

“The library needs to be the hub for lifelong learning and engagement,“ Scott said. “Gadsden is a vibrant community with a diverse culture and strong sense of identity and, thanks to our long history, the Gadsden Public Library is well positioned to tap into this fantastic energy. I’m truly blessed and honored to lead the dedicated GPL team as we explore new programs, services, and partnerships geared toward realizing the full potential of what the library can be.”

The Gadsden Public Library serves thousands of patrons and hosts hundreds of programs each year, reaching all parts of the community. Follow the GPL on Facebook,  Twitter, and at their website at https://gadsdenlibrary.org/.
