During the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, Mayor Guyton and honored 2nd Chance, Inc. with a proclamation for “Domestic Violence Awareness Month.” The month of October is nationally recognized for Domestic Violence Awareness prevention, and 2nd Chance’s mission is to create awareness and strives to strengthen the movement within our own local communities to end the violence.
2nd Chance, Inc. is a non-profit organization that serves in the Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Etowah, Randolph, and Talladega Counties of Northeast Alabama. 2nd Chance, Inc. offers the victims of domestic and sexual assault: safe shelters, educational outreach, counseling, transitional housing, court, and legal advocacy, and much more.
Mayor Guyton acknowledges that domestic violence is a crime people in our community experience and that assailants will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law within the City of Gadsden. The City of Gadsden has partnered with 2nd Chance, Inc. and is honored to help support the funding and promoting of the shelter programs and other various services.
