Gadsden, AL- The Gadsden City Schools and City of Gadsden are partnering to bring needed improvements to school safety in the Gadsden City School System. Newly appointed Gadsden City Schools Superintendent Tony Reddick has met extensively with mayor Sherman Guyton updating him on issues and opportunities within the Gadsden City Schools System. Safety is a critical element in the education system, and the City of Gadsden is committed to providing a safe learning environment for all students.

Superintendent Reddick discussed the issue of school safety with the Mayor and Council at Tuesday’s City Council work session. Mayor Guyton proposed giving Gadsden City Schools $200,000 from the City’s new Capital Improvement Fund to invest in school safety as Reddick sees fit. Gadsden City School System will receive the funds immediately as they were allocated from the 2018 Fiscal Year budget, and their disbursement was possible as the City approaches the end of the budget cycle.
