Gadsden, AL- Tuesday, July 31st, the City of Gadsden awarded the bid for the final phase of the Kiwanis Pavilion improvements. The City is constructing an additional parking lot to serve the new main entrance to Kiwanis Pavilion and Playground at Noccalula Falls. The actual renovation of Kiwanis Pavilion is virtually complete, with staff undertaking final cleaning and bathrooms opening just in time for the upcoming World's Longest Yard Sale.
Park staff will hold an open house and dedication from 5 -7 p.m. on August 16th with the facility dedication and a special announcement from the Gadsden Art Association occurring at 5:30 p.m.
This project will add 29 new parking spaces at the redesigned front entrance, which will also serve as the primary visitor reception area during the months that the ticked portion of the park is closed. The parking lot is scheduled to be completed in time for the annual Christmas at the Falls special event, that annually draws more than 100,000 people to Noccalula Falls Park.
It should be noted that the precincts that have historically voted at Kiwanis Pavilion, and have been relocated in recent elections, will return to Kiwanis Pavilion for the August 28th municipal elections.
