Downtown Gadsden - When the celebration is this big, one event just isn't enough. For July you can enjoy two great nights of patriotic fun in Downtown Gadsden, fireworks over the Coosa on the 4th and First Friday on the 6th.

On Wednesday, July 4th, make your way to either side of the Coosa River for the best spots to see the fireworks. Presented by the Gadsden Etowah Patriots Association, the fireworks display will begin at 9:00 pm. Arrive early to park at Convention Hall and the Amphitheater parking lots or across the river at the Coosa Landing parking lot.

Keep the fun going with First Friday on July 6th, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. All along Broad Street and beyond you can shop our local merchants, dine at your favorite downtown restaurants and visit our attractions, like the Gadsden Museum of Art and the Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts.

Live music will keep your toes tapping with performances by Two Tone Willie at 2nd & Broad, Damascus Road at 3rd & Broad, Jess Goggans Band at 4th & Broad, The Wheelers at 5th & Broad and Tori Parris in the 600 block. Food vendors will be available and classic cars are expected to line the street.

As the sun sets and the sky darkens, turn your eyes towards Back Forty Beer Company for another round of fireworks. This one starting at "dark thirty" will add a wonderful touch to First Friday.

But wait, the party isn't over. The Summer Concert Series at the Amp July show will shake you all night long. High Voltage, an AC/DC tribute band will take the stage for a high energy performance from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm. The concert is free and cushions and coolers are welcome. Local Joe's will be on hand selling concessions.

If you want to start the day early, stop by the Farmers Market at the 5th Street Market for corn, watermelon and all the fresh fruits and vegetables you need for your holiday weekend. The hours are 7:00 am to noon.

Broad Street will be closed from 1st Street to 7th Street starting at 4:00 pm and will reopen after the event. First Friday is a weather-dependent event. As a reminder to all, pets are not allowed at First Friday.
