Gadsden, AL - On Tuesday, May 1, Mayor Sherman Guyton and the Gadsden City Council, accompanied by members of the community and design team, gathered together to break ground on the comprehensive improvements taking place at Moragne Park. Moragne Park, one of Gadsden’s flagship, citywide parks, is one of many projects underway throughout the city.
The overhaul will be performed by local contractor, Boatner Construction Company, Inc., of Rainbow City. The park will feature three new pavilions, two new restrooms, redesigned landscaping, lighting and sidewalks, as well as three regulation-size volleyball courts. The brand new playground equipment at Moragne Park will be accessible to all. This playground will use “Poured in Place” surfacing that is low maintenance and inclusive for all ages and abilities in our community. The playground will include one wheelchair swing and a parent/child side-by-side slide.
Moragne Park will be closed until completion. The project should be completed by September, pending weather delays. For further information and or questions, please contact the Gadsden Parks and Recreation Department at 256.549.4680.
