Gadsden, AL - The Gadsden/Etowah County Emergency Management Agency is proud to announce the creation of the “Chatmon Sturdivant Volunteer of the Year Award”, in honor of long-time GECEMA volunteer, Chatmon Sturdivant. Mr. Sturdivant began volunteering for the agency during the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program. He is now the shelter manager of the East Gadsden Storm Shelter.
On Tuesday, April 24, 2018, the first “Chatmon Sturdivant Volunteer of the Year Award” was awarded to Mr. Magnum Waldrop. Mr. Waldrop has been a valuable asset to the EMA for years. He is an active participant of the Etowah County Community Emergency Response Team program, and was in charge of the donation warehouse during the Southside/Rainbow City tornado recovery process.
We, at the Gadsden/Etowah County Emergency Management Agency, would like to say THANK YOU to all volunteer individuals, groups, and organizations who dedicated hours of selfless service to the Etowah County community during recent recovery efforts, as well as past events.
