[ARCHIVED] May First Friday

image003

Downtown Gadsden - On Friday, May 4, Downtown Gadsden Inc. invites you to come downtown to enjoy the festivities and the beautiful spring weather at First Friday, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Downtown merchants will be open late, providing a great opportunity to do your Mother’s Day shopping!  Food vendors will line the 400 block of Broad Street and classic cars will cruise in and be on display.

Live music features: Tyler McDermott at 2nd and Broad, Wes Walters at 3rd & Broad, New Delusions at 4th & Broad, Steel City Revival at 5th & Broad, and Legacy in the 600 block.

There will be two special additions for May. Some of the wooden boats in town for the Woodies on the Coosa Antique and Classic Boat Show (May 3-5), will be in display in the 600 block. And there will be a swearing-in ceremony on the steps of the Old Federal Building.

Start your day early at the first Farmers Market of the season at the 5th Street Market. The hours are 7:00 am to noon.

Those looking for the force on May 4 will find it at Back Forty Beer Company as they team up with the Toy Exchange for Star Wars Day. The themed fun includes trivia, a silent auction, kids’ activities and, of course, the chance to show off your Star Wars attire.

The Gadsden Museum of Art will be holding a reception for the opening of two exhibits. Stop by to experience Carolyn DeMeritt’s As Long as the Waters Flow: Native Americans in the South and East, and the School Exhibition 2018, featuring more than Etowah County and City Schools. The School Exhibition remains on display through May 11 while the DeMeritt exhibit continues through June 29.

As a reminder to all, pets are not allowed at First Friday.
