The Alabama Community College System recently rolled out the App Development with Swift Program statewide for spring semester.
Gadsden State chose to implement the program at Gadsden City High School for students who have been accepted into the ACE Institute, formerly known as dual enrollment.
The first class began at the start of the spring semester in a computer lab funded through a grant from the Alabama Community College System. The lab is located at the Gadsden City High Career Tech Center.
The App Development with Swift Program curriculum is designed by Apple engineers and educators. It uses Swift, one of the world’s most popular programming language.
In the App Development with Swift Program, students will learn to code and design fully functional apps, gaining critical job skills in software development and information technology.
Mobile app development has been ranked as one of the hottest jobs to have in 2016 with the job market having been predicted to skyrocket by 32% from 2010 through 2020.
Developers who can code in Apple’s Swift programming language have been the most in-demand over the past year.
