Beautiful Rainbow Café! Located in the Gadsden Public Library! As part of the Gadsden City School system, the Beautiful Rainbow Café will be closed July 29- August 14 for training and Back-to-School registration! The café will reopen for business on Tuesday, August 15! Tuesday: 11AM-1PM lunch; 3:15-5:30PM coffee & pastries. Wednesday: 11AM-1PM lunch; 3:15-5PM coffee & pastries. Thursday: 11AM-1PM lunch; 3:15-5:30PM coffee & pastries. Friday: 11AM-1PM lunch; no afternoon service. Saturday/Sunday/Monday: CLOSED

***** GPL Solar Eclipse Viewing! When: August 21, Noon-3PM Where: GPL Park (Lena Martin Room, in the event of rain) Join us in the GPL Park for a spectacular solar eclipse … the first in 40 years for our area! While we won’t be in a direct line for a total eclipse, we will be seeing almost 95% of the sun covered by the moon during the middle of the day! If weather permits, we’ll be seeing day turn into night (with stars even appearing during the maximum viewing time at 1:30PM). 200 pairs of solar glasses will be available for safe viewing! Special activities for all ages! A representative from Jacksonville State’s Planetarium will be on hand to help explain exactly what happens when the moon, sun and earth all align for a solar eclipse! ***** Stars Fell on Alabama Film Series When: Third Tuesday of the month, 6PM Where: Pitman Theatre Join us at 6PM on the third Tuesday of each month at the historic Pitman Theatre for a screening of a film that either takes place in or was filmed in Alabama! Brown bags and coolers are welcome (no food or drink will be sold on the premises). While we can’t advertise the movie’s title, people are welcome to call 256.547.8696, or 256.546.2886 to find out the name of the film that will be playing. All films will be rated G, PG, or PG-13. Stars Fell on Alabama Film Series is a joint venture of the University of Alabama’s Gadsden Center, the Gadsden Public Library and Downtown Gadsden, Inc. GPL Computer Classes Where: Computer Classroom (2nd Floor) of the Main Library Cost: Classes are offered free-of-charge to the community! However, there is a $5.00 deposit (per class) to hold your reservation. Your deposit will be returned to you the day of the class. PLEASE NOTE: Registration is required since space is limited to 12 people per class. Register for classes in person at the Computer Center Desk (2nd floor) or for more information, call 256.549.4699, ext. 119. A current (free & clear) library card is needed to enroll. If you don’t have a card, you may obtain one at the Circulation Desk, 1st floor of the Main Library. Computer Basics & Internet for the Beginner When: August 1 & 2, 1:30-4:30PM This is a two-day class (3 hours per day) for the absolute beginner or for those who simply need to know more about computers. No computer experience is required.

 ***** Downloading & Saving Your Docs & Files When: August 9, 1:30-3:30PM This class will teach you how to download & save documents and files that you find on the Internet or receive from friends or business associates via email. Prerequisite: Computer Basics for the Beginner ***** Microsoft Word When: August 16, 1:30-3:30PM Learn to use Microsoft Word for writing letters, building resumes or for making handouts!
