During a Significant Weather Advisory on June 23, 2017, issued by the National Weather Service office in Birmingham, several portions of the Etowah County area were directly impacted by wind damage. The areas reporting damage were located in Tillison Bend, Rainbow City, Glencoe, West Gadsden, and Southside. Damage assessment is on-going in the damaged areas and is being conducted by the staff of the Gadsden/Etowah County Emergency Management Agency. Recovery efforts are ongoing and many crews are working to restore utilities in the affected areas. Therefore, it is requested that these areas be avoided out of an abundance of safety and caution for those working and the citizens in the areas. Multiple homes have been damaged and many trees remain down.
