Extremely cold weather is forecast along with the potential for a wintry weather mix to affect Etowah County. At times, beginning tonight throughout this weekend, temperatures and wind chills will be brutal. The forecast calls for temperatures feeling like 19 degrees with wind chills making it feel more like 10 degrees. The forecast predict up to 3 inches of snow beginning Friday morning – Saturday morning.
Local jurisdictions and agencies are set to open Warming Centers or potentially Shelters if needed to provide relief to local citizens. As always, please use our local Salvation Army location first. They will be opened to those in need of warming or sheltering, 24 hours a day during this community emergency.
